Nick Butcher

Nicholas Butcher is recording
a series of episodes,
covering the annual cycle
of Fiestas in Spain
and related food, to be broadcast
on RSA 99.1 fm regularly.

The Nick Butcher's chronicles
: Fiestas and Foods of Spain

This is a good example of potential mixed media: texts, website, broadcast, podcast and more...
  • all chronicles are written in Word by Nick Butcher who brings his texts to be recorded on mini-disc, then edited:
  • each episode is then broadcast on RSA 99.1 fm radio in Nerja a week before the event;
  • the texts are posted on RSA's website: Fiestas and Foods of Spain;
  • the audio recordings are converted to MP3 and uploaded to ODEO podcast;
We could continue further with more resources:
  • make 2 audio CDs with the recordings and a nice leaflet for distribution;
  • get a publisher to produce an illustrated book with the original texts and add pictures;
  • or go the self-publishing route with Lulu or similar on-line provider;
  • shoot a video diary with the author ad visual footage of the events as described;
  • broadcast the video on local television or wherever;
  • burn a DVD from the original video montage;
  • post the video on the internet on You Tube, a blog, a web site,etc..
And I'm sure that there even more possibilities. In fact, going digital opens a whole range of applications for a single project, which makes it easy to disseminate the same original information on different media.
